Indoor Sheepyard™ Due to vast changes in the North American landscape, as well as the damaging efforts of the anti-sheep lobby of both the United States and Canada, political and economic factors have driven many sheep producers from business in recent years. These factors, coupled with the wolf and coyote overpopulation, forced us to take a look at the whole wool creating process and to, as they say, build a better mousetrap. Or in our case, a sheepyard. Thus the solution to the agricultural, political and predatorial woes was born. Introducing the V & A Indoor Sheepyard.™ All V & A ewes and rams are raised and tended indoors, in one of our patented (Can. Pat. Nos. 45-56792, 45-66512 and 47-345213 (pending) Indoor Sheepyards (ISYs). Here, the sheep can graze, exercise and live their lives in safety, comfort and peace. Away from damaging storms, away from overgrazed lands and, most important, away from the teeth and claws of roving packs of coyotes. Obviously, the main objective of any sheep enterprise is to efficiently convert available resources into high quality lamb and wool products. To that end, V & A has taken the guesswork out of the entire process. Our Indoor Sheepyards provide our animals with food, shelter and protection and our wool yields are consistently among the highest in the industry. The concept is simple. Each of our ISYs are divided into three separate floors, or “Tiers.” (See Diagram) Each of the tiers represents a key portion of the sheep wool creation cycle – what we call “Wooltime.”
